OverviewProfessional experienceEducation and qualifications

Peter has been a partner with Linklaters since 2005. He joined the Luxembourg office in 2013, after heading the firm’s corporate practice in Amsterdam and after spending a year and a half in the firm’s Beijing office.

Peter has 30 years’ experience advising on corporate work, covering cross-border M&A transactions, (both public and private), private equity and boardroom consulting. Peter has ample knowledge of both the financial institutions and the insurance sectors, as well as the energy and utilities market.

Unusually for a corporate lawyer, Peter also works as a litigator, which gives him added insight when advising clients on their most strategically important deals or disputes. He continues to advise clients on their dispute resolution cases, and, when required to, handles litigation from the Amsterdam office.

Peter is the firm’s global Knowledge & Learning Partner; a role which involves driving initiatives to share knowledge across the firm and with clients.

Work highlights

Peter has led on a number of M&A and restructuring deals, including advising:

  • RBS and ABN AMRO on the break-up of ABN AMRO, as well as the accession of the Dutch state as a shareholder
  • Chengdu Tianqi, a Chinese lithium processing company, on its acquisition of Talison Lithium, an Australian lithium mining company listed on the Toronto stock exchange. This was the first time a Chinese company had succeeded in a competitive public M&A deal in Australia
  • The coordinating committee on the financial restructuring of Samos Servicios y Gestiones, S.L., which is owned by the private equity group, Sun Capital Partners
  • RBS on the sale of its Luxembourg-based funds business to the private equity firm BlackFin Capital Partners. This was only the second transaction of its kind in Luxembourg
  • The coordinating committee of lenders to European Vehicle Safety Spain 1, S.A.U., the parent company of the Spanish Grupo Itevelesa, on a financial restructuring. The restructuring was notable in its enforcement  of security over shares and income of the Luxembourg parent company
