Corporate Responsibility

The importance of corporate responsibility at Linklaters is evident in the way we do business. We have always believed in achieving our vision responsibly.

This means thinking about how we contribute to our local communities, our role in society and how we manage our impact on the world around us – particularly on the environment. These are not one-off issues. They are ongoing challenges.

We are dedicated to helping you fulfil your potential as a lawyer in a way that fulfils your social conscience, too. In the year 2007/8, our lawyers spent over 32,000 hours on volunteering activities. Almost 23,000 of these hours constituted free legal advice and representation. Everyone in our business is entitled to one day every year to participate in volunteer-based activity. There are also many opportunities to take part in fundraising events, such as Movember (growing moustaches to fundraise for prostate cancer), and we match all staff donations.

Many of our lawyers take the experience gained working on complex and challenging legal transactions and apply them to the benefit of others. The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) Fund is just one example. Our lawyers were the lead advisers on this cross practice, multi-jurisdictional, groundbreaking scheme, designed to provide lifesaving vaccines to more than 500 million children in over 70 of the world’s poorest countries.
