Summer Associate Programme

For around six to eight weeks each year, our office in Stockholm takes on seven law students from universities across Sweden as summer interns.

Our commitment to the programme runs extremely deep. We want you to come away with a real feeling of what it’s like to work at a global law firm and to gain a true reflection of what you can expect should you join us when your studies are complete. So, based in a practice area, you’ll work in practice teams on real projects. The work that you do will be of real value and will contribute to the transactions and deals that are happening at the time. You’ll go back to university having gained extremely significant practical experience to complement your studies.

We will assign you a ‘principal’ – an associate who takes the role of mentor to answer questions and support you during your summer at Linklaters. You’ll begin with an induction, very similar to that of a junior associate, which will quickly help you get to know the firm.

There are also social events, including drinks and dinners, where you can network and get to know your fellow colleagues on a more personal level.

One key aspect of the summer programme is that a few of our intake will have the opportunity to spend two weeks in London on our global summer programme. This is decided via a very fair process and those who visit our London offices find the experience invaluable. While in London you will build on your experience still further with structured training as well as gaining a great network of international contacts amongst the other students on the programme.

To participate in our summer programme, you will need to have finished your sixth semester of your law education (Jur Kand). You can spend a minimum of six weeks with us if you need to fit in other plans over your summer and the programme usually starts in the second week of June.  The recruitment process starts in early February and involves an interview in which you will meet  both lawyers and representatives from HR and we will get to know whether we’re right for each other.
