Linklaters asset and project finance practices have been honoured by Jane’s Transport Finance Magazine, winning a trio of legal awards at the publication's annual Gala Dinner, held at Merchant Taylor’s Hall, in London, last night.
Linklaters was named Legal House of the Year in recognition of the firm’s achievements across the transport sector, as well as winning specific legal awards for Rail Finance Law (for the sale of Angel Trains for an enterprise value of £3.6bn to a consortium led by Babcock & Brown European Infrastructure Fund), and Port Finance Law (for the SAR1.7bn Islamic financing for Jeddah Port).
The firm also advised on other award-winning deals, including Rail Leasing Deal of the Year (the QW Rail Leasing deal, on which the firm advised QW Rail, a consortium owned by SMBC & NAB), Rail Deal of the Year (the Angel Trains deal) and Shipping Debt Deal of the Year (South America) (the US$800m offshore drilling project financing for the Brazilian off-shore shipping company Schahin).
These latest awards come just weeks after Linklaters’ ship finance team won the award for Legal Services relating to Shipping Finance at the fifth annual Lloyd’s Shipping Economist, Ship Finance Awards. Collectively, these awards recognise the pre-eminence of Linklaters’ global asset finance and project finance practices in the provision of legal services supporting big-ticket, complex finance deals in the transport sector.
Robert Fugard, global head of asset finance at Linklaters, commented:
"We are honoured to accept these awards from Jane’s Transport Finance Magazine, the principal trade journal for the transport finance industry. This is a tremendous accolade, which recognises the outstanding quality of our people in London and overseas offices, and our cutting-edge advice on many of the most complex, cross-border and strategically important transport finance deals of the past 12 months."
Partners, Robert Fugard, Simon Gwynne and Neil Harnby and managing associates, Andrew Pirrie and Sarah Dean joined clients at the awards ceremony last night.
