Linklaters enjoys triple success at two awards ceremonies in one week

03 December 2008

Linklaters has celebrated a trio of awards at two award ceremonies in London last week - being named Debt and Credit Team of the Year at the Financial News Legal Awards 2008 and Cross-border M&A Team of the Year and Banking and Restructuring Team of the Year at the British Legal Awards 2008, hosted by Legal Week.

Winners of the Financial News Legal Awards, which took place at the Plaisterers' Hall in London, are based on a poll of Financial News readers.

Carson Welsh, Head of Equity and Debt Markets, commented:

“We are very pleased to have been recognised by Financial News readers as the leading Debt and Credit practice. This accolade is another great achievement for the practice and recognises our continuing aim to provide market-leading advice to clients on their most complex transactions globally.”

The British Legal Awards, which took place at Old Billingsgate Market in London, was based on the views of a judging panel chaired by Bill Knight, chairman of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, and included Richard Bennett, general counsel of HSBC, Tim Clark, former senior partner of Slaughter and May, Jonathan Goldsmith, secretary general, Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) and Jeremy Hand, chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.

The awards recognise the firms achievements across all banking and corporate work streams. The banking/restructuring award recognises the firm’s market-leading performance over the last 12-18 months in the banking and restructuring arena, as well as its investment in technological support for clients. The cross border M&A award recognises the firm's track record of handling the largest, most complex, multi-jursidictional M&A deals.

David Cheyne, Linklaters Senior Partner, said:

"We are delighted to have won recognition for our work on the most high profile and complex deals, both by our corporate, capital markets and banking and restructuring teams. Winning these awards acknowledges our ability to provide the highest quality advice to clients on their most important and challenging transactions."
