Linklaters wins hat trick of Legal Business Awards
13 February 2009
Linklaters has won the Banking/Restructuring Team of the Year, Corporate Team of the Year and Lawyer of the Year awards at the Legal Business Awards 2009, which were held in London last night.
The firm received the Banking/Restructuring Team of the Year award for advising PwC as administrator to Lehman Brothers in the world’s largest ever corporate insolvency, which Legal Business referred to as "probably the hottest UK mandate of the credit crunch so far."
The Corporate Team of the Year award recognises the most outstanding deals for corporate clients in 2008, and was awarded to Linklaters for advising Scottish & Newcastle as the target in the cross-border acquisition by Sunrise Acquisitions which is jointly owned by Carlsberg and Heineken. Legal Business said that the deal stood out for the "expertly run defence, built around complex but critical legal issues." It is the second year running that Linklaters has won this award.
Linklaters' global head of Restructuring & Insolvency, Tony Bugg, was named Lawyer of the Year for "taking the lead on probably the biggest mandate of the year: advising PricewaterhouseCoopers on the administration of Lehman Brothers."
