Nord Stream project financing: Linklaters advises Gazprom Export on long-term transportation agreement

16 March 2010

Linklaters has advised OOO Gazprom Export, as sole shipper in the Nord Stream pipeline project, on the long-term transportation agreement with Nord Stream AG, and on related discussions with lenders.

This is the key revenue-bearing contract for the project financing. The role is the culmination of over five years' continuous work on the Nord Stream project - Linklaters originally acted for OAO Gazprom on the establishment of the joint venture for the project.

Daniel Tyrer, partner in Moscow, commented:

"We are delighted to have advised Gazprom Export on this complex contract which has huge significance for the financing of Nord Stream, particularly given our long involvement with the project."

The Linklaters team was led throughout by Moscow-based Energy and Infrastructure partner Daniel Tyrer with assistance from Moscow associates Bob Worrall and Jack Coleman and, at various stages of the transaction, by Moscow Energy and Infrastructure counsel Julia Voskoboinikova and Moscow corporate partner, Grigory Gadzhiev.

The legal advisers on the financing arrangements for Nord Stream are White and Case (advising the borrower) and Clifford Chance (advising the lenders).
