Linklaters has advised DP World Limited on the formation of a strategic partnership with Citi Infrastructure Investors (CII), together with one of CII’s major investors, to invest in, operate and manage DP World’s five marine terminals in Australia. DP World receives approximately US$1.5bn as part of the deal.
Under the terms of the deal, announced on 22 December, DP World will continue to provide management services to the container terminals at Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle under a management contract.
Linklaters' team was led from Dubai by corporate partner Nick Garland, infrastructure partner Sarosh Mewawalla, and managing associate James Coleman. DP World's legal team was led by Ian Le Pelley, with Australian advice provided by Freehills.
Nick Garland commented: "This was a chunky multi-party deal with the added complexities of cross practices and jurisdictions. We were lucky to have great teams at both advisors and clients which made it a fun and rewarding deal to do in the run up to Christmas."
