Linklaters advises British Land/Oxford Properties JV on Aon pre-letting

24 November 2011

Linklaters has advised British Land, in joint venture with Canadian investor Oxford Properties, on one of the largest pre-lets in the City so far this year – the pre-letting to insurance giant Aon at The Leadenhall Building, its 47-storey tower building in the City of London.

Aon will take 191,000 sq ft (18,000 sq m) on the lower 10 floors in the building, also known as the ‘Cheesegrater’.

The letting represents one third of the 610,000 sq ft (56,700 sq m) office tower which is currently under construction for delivery in mid-2014.

The deal also includes an option to take a further five floors at a later stage.

The Linklaters team which represented the developer was led by real estate partners Martin Elliott and Julian Innes-Taylor, assisted by Béatrice Taylor, managing associate in the real estate practice .

Linklaters has advised British Land on the planning, development and letting of The Leadenhall Building since 2004.
