Frankfurt, 6 March 2012. The international law firm Linklaters advised Commerzbank AG on the SME securitisation transaction CoSMO Finance II-2 Limited. The transaction is a synthetic securitisation of loan receivables of Commerzbank against German SMEs in the amount of €2bn. By transferring the credit risk underlying the receivables, Commerzbank achieves a corresponding capital relief.
As one of the 29 major banks which the Financial Stability Board qualified as “systemically important financial institutions”, Commerzbank is subject to stringent capital adequacy requirements. The CoSMO Finance II-2 transaction contributes to Commerzbank’s compliance with capital requirements.
The Linklaters team was led by Dr Laurenz Uhl and Dr Burkhard Rinne (both capital markets, Frankfurt).
