Linklaters advise Deere & Company on US$5.2 billion acquisition of Wirtgen Group

Linklaters has advised the U.S.-based global market leader in agricultural engineering, Deere & Company, on the acquisition of Wirtgen Group’s global business. The total transaction is valued at around US$5.2 billion.

Family run Wirtgen operates globally based in Windhagen, Germany and is a market leader in the road construction and repair industry as well as in natural stone and useful minerals mining. It employs over 8,000 employees worldwide and distributes its products in more than 100 countries under five renowned brands: Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven. Wirtgen produces machinery at several headquarters in Germany and local production sites in Brazil, China and India. The acquisition is a key milestone of Deere’s long-term strategy to expand its agricultural and construction business.

The Linklaters team was led out of the Düsseldorf office by Corporate partners Wolfgang Sturm and Dr Tim Johannsen-Roth. Tax partner Oliver Rosenberg also advised on the transaction.
