Linklaters announces the appointment of Kathryn Ludlow as its first global pro bono partner, reflecting the firm's commitment to pro bono. The new role involves representing the firm's extensive pro bono activities globally and providing high-level strategic direction to this important aspect of the firm's business.

Kathryn, who will combine the role with her commitments as a litigation partner, has many years of involvement in the firm's pro bono programme. She manages the litigation department's pro bono projects and relationships, such as the Royal Courts of Justice Citizens' Advice Bureau (of which she is a trustee), Disability Law Service and Advocates for International Development amongst others.

Kathryn Ludlow said:

"Providing our community partners with access to Linklaters' professional services free of charge is an essential part of our business and supports the achievement of the firm's ambitions. I am very proud of the extent of these activities that are happening already across the firm and am delighted to be in a position to help encourage it even further in the future."

She added:

"There is a dual focus to our pro bono work - using our particular legal skills to assist the disadvantaged who are local to our offices, and drawing on our cross-border, cross-practice capabilities on international projects addressing broader social and economic issues. Examples include advising on the legal structuring of an innovative co-operative project to bring clean and renewable power to the rural population in Kenya, and cross-border research spanning 20 different countries on tax incentives that exist to stimulate investment in clean and sustainable energy technologies in order to inform legislative developments in the US."

Kathryn will be supported by Elsha Butler, the firm's global pro bono manager.
