Linklaters appoints new EEMENA head

05 March 2009

Linklaters announces the appointment of Stuart Salt as regional managing partner of the firm’s Emerging Europe, Middle East and North Africa (EEMENA) practice, with effect from 1 May 2009. Stuart succeeds Nick Eastwell who has decided to retire from the partnership, having reached the 20 year milestone as a partner. Nick will be stepping down as EEMENA regional managing partner on 30 April 2009 and will be retiring from the firm on 31 October 2009.

Stuart has been a partner at Linklaters since 1992 and has broad experience across M&A, projects and structured finance. He has worked extensively in both the Middle East and CIS and recently led the Linklaters team advising on the Sakhalin 2 project in Russia - the world’s largest limited recourse oil and gas financing and Russia’s largest ever foreign investment.

He also completed in April 2008 a successful three years as head of banking and projects in Asia, leading the transformation of the practice into one of the most highly ranked in the region as well as overseeing the first full regionalisation of a practice group in Asia.

Simon Davies, Linklaters managing partner, said:

“I’m pleased to welcome Stuart to this role. His management experience, coupled with his extensive experience in the region, will ensure that the EEMENA group will continue to flourish under his leadership. I would also like to thank Nick for his significant contribution to the firm over what has been a long and distinguished career at Linklaters. He was appointed regional managing partner of EEMENA last year, successfully managing the start-up of this regional practice. Prior to this, he was head of our international finance group in Hong Kong, managing partner for Central and Eastern Europe and global head of capital markets.”

Stuart Salt said:

“The CEE, Middle East, Russia/CIS and Africa are all important and dynamic parts of the firm's business. I very much look forward to joining the team and helping to provide a top class service to our clients throughout the region."
