22 June 2009

Leading international law firm Linklaters is delighted to announce that the College of Europe’s Linklaters Award for economic analysis of European Law has been awarded to Katarzyna Kozak. The competition is open to all law students at the Bruges and Natolin campuses, who were invited to submit a paper dealing with a topic related to an economic analysis of European law.

Katarzyna received the award, which is either a three-month internship at the Linklaters competition practice or a cash prize, from partner Bernd Meyring of the Linklaters Brussels competition practice. Katarzyna, a Polish law student from the Bruges campus won the Award with her paper entitled “Efficiencies in Article 82 of the Treaty, an illusionary defence?”, in which her personal insights balance her legal analysis.

Katarzyna was congratulated by the Rector, Paul Demaret and by other guests including Jean-Luc Dehaene, President of the Administrative Council.

Linklaters is delighted to be sponsoring the College of Europe’s Economic Analysis Award, since knowledge and learning is central to the work ethos promoted inside the firm. This has taken on prominent shape recently in the setting up of the Linklaters Law & Business School, which gives every lawyer in the firm a framework for professional development. Several members of the global Linklaters Competition Group are graduates of the College of Europe, which confirms it is one of the perfect launch pads for a successful legal career.
