Linklaters appoints José Giménez to lead Spanish public law/regulated sectors practice
23 October 2009
Linklaters has appointed José Giménez to lead the firm’s public law/regulated sectors capability in Madrid. He will join the firm on Monday 26 October.
His appointment reinforces Linklaters’ capabilities in Madrid in a key practice at a time of increasing activity in areas with a strong public law component such as energy, construction & infrastructure and telecommunications.
José joins the firm from CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo where he was a partner. He is ranked as a leading individual in Public Law, Energy & Natural Resources, and Telecommunications by the legal directory Chambers.
He is a State Advocate, with senior status in the State’s legal service where he practised for ten years, ultimately as Secretary General of the Spanish Telecommunications Market Commission.
Sebastián Albella, member of the Madrid Management Committee, said:
"José Giménez is one of the leading public law experts in Spain and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm. His appointment will enhance our ability to provide top-tier public law advice to corporates in regulated sectors and on transactions subject to public law."
Alejandro Ortiz, head of the corporate practice of Linklaters in Madrid, said:
"José’s appointment is a significant step in the development of our Madrid office and public law capability, given his wide recognition in the market and at a time when regulated sectors such as energy, infrastructure and telecommunications are proving particularly active in M&A and private equity."
José’s appointment follows the recent hire of litigation partner Francisco Málaga from Cuatrecasas and the election of banking partner Ben Crosse and real estate partner Jesús Varela in May.
