Linklaters has risen significantly in deal value and deal volume league table rankings for U.S. M&A advisory, according to mergermarket, Bloomberg, and ThomsonReuters

Bloomberg has ranked Linklaters #10 in its 2008 U.S. M&A League Table of legal advisors, by deal volume. The firm moved up more than 30 spots from Bloomberg’s 2007 rankings.
mergermarket has ranked the firm #11 in its 2008 U.S. M&A League Table of legal advisors, by deal value. Increasing nearly 40 spots from 2007, the firm had the largest ranking increase of any legal advisor in the top 20 over the past year.
ThomsonReuters has ranked the firm #15 in its 2008 U.S. M&A Legal Advisor Review, by deal value. The firm climbed 18 spots higher from 2007.
Within the U.S., Linklaters acted on 72 publicly announced transactions worth approximately $148.9 billion in 2008, according to Bloomberg. Key deals that Linklaters acted on in 2008 include advising:
- Citibank on the sale of its German retail banking operation to Credit Mutuel Group for $7.7 billion.
- Rio Tinto on various U.S. aspects of its successful defense of BHP Billiton’s hostile takeover offer.
