Linklaters strengthens its position as the leading legal advisor for transactions in the Nordics
15 January 2010
Linklaters has been named the leading legal M&A advisor by value for Nordic transactions according to the full-year league tables released by Mergermarket and Thomson Reuters. Linklaters is, according to both the ranking institutes, the law firm which has been advising on transactions for the highest total value on the Nordic market 2009. Linklaters has, according to Mergermarket, been involved in 17 transactions at the total value of MUSD 12,176 during the period January-December 2009, and thus strenghtens its position from the 2008 league tables. The 2009 Nordic league tables are dominated by the global law firms, which clearly have gained market share of the large transactions in the Nordics.
Fredrik Lindqvist, Head of Linklaters
’ Nordic M&A-practice, said:
"
2009 became a unique year with its historically low transaction activity. However, we have been privileged to be involved in a major part of the larger and more complex transactions that, though, have happened in the Nordic market during the year, like Vattenfall’s acquisition of Dutch Nuon, which was the largest cash offer ever in Sweden, private equity firms Altor’s and Bure’s high-profile acquisition of Carnegie and Max Matthiessen, the merger between the two listed companies Bure and Skanditek, Statoil Hydro in connection with the divestment of part of their retail business in Sweden and Norway and also Investment AB Kinnevik’s acquisition of Emesco.
Given the economical development we have experienced,
we believe that our unique position as the only leading global law firm with significant presence in the Nordic market has influenced. 2009 was an interesting as well as a challenging year and we now look forward to 2010 with confidence, and aiming at maintaining our leading position in the Nordics also during the year to come."
