Linklaters Tops 2009 M&A League Tables

Linklaters has been named the leading legal M&A adviser by value for European, European – counsel to principals and UK announced deals according to Bloomberg in the 2009 M&A league table rankings.
The firm is positioned first by value for global mid-market, Asia Pacific (excl-Japan), Asia Pacific (excl-Japan & Australasia), Nordic and Australasian announced M&A by Mergermarket. In addition, Linklaters was also placed first for European mid-market, UK and French announced deals by both value and volume.
Thomson Reuters placed Linklaters first for Nordic announced M&A and European announced M&A in the materials sector by value. Furthermore, Thomson Reuters ranks Linklaters first for Benelux and South African completed deals by value.
David Barnes, Linklaters global head of corporate, said:
"Market conditions over the last 12 months have led to a decline in the value and volume of global M&A. Nevertheless we have had a busy year and have been involved in significant recapitalisation and restructuring work. We continue to act on a number of high-profile and complex M&A transactions."
Globally the firm acted on 215 deals in 2009 totalling US$232.2bn, according to Thomson Reuters.
