Linklaters in Paris rewarded for its pro-active attitude towards promoting diversity

03 November 2011

Having signed the “Charte de la diversité” (Diversity Charter) a year ago, Linklaters has been awarded the Trophée de la Diversité 2011 (Diversity Trophy 2011) in the “Implication des acteurs” “(Involving the sector in diversity initiatives”) category.

Linklaters has just received the “Trophée de la Diversité 2011” for “Involving the sector in diversity initiatives”, a year after signing the “Charte de la diversité” on 16 August 2010. The award recognises the firm’s pro-active and communicative attitude towards diversity within the legal sector.

Diversity: a recognised advantage

Every member of the firm contributes to the promotion of diversity in the widest sense. The firm aims to esteem difference in such a way that diversity is considered objectively as a value which benefits everyone every day. It is this idea that the firm wishes to promote both internally and externally.

In the words of Françoise Maigrot, the partner in charge of diversity at Linklaters,

“For Linklaters, action in favour of diversity only reaps rewards if it has a wide scope, if it is well-publicised and put in place pro-actively, with the full involvement and support of the management. Diversity is enriching.”

Paul Lignières, the Managing Partner of Linklaters in Paris, adds:

“The promotion of diversity is a crucial part of our corporate responsibility strategy. We are working hard to encourage the rest of the French legal sector to value diversity as we do.”

Concrete actions for change

Linklaters in Paris is dedicated on a daily basis to promoting diversity - of culture, background and experience – as well as to promoting equality between men and women, and to supporting social mobility and helping the disabled.

In concrete terms, the firm has, among other initiatives, launched the scholarship “Sciences Po – Linklaters for diversity”, acted to ensure that it receives a diverse range of applications by supporting notably Talents UniverCité[1], the first internet site for job searching dedicated to university students, put an internal training programme in place in order to heighten the awareness of management teams on the subject and organised a conference on the topic “Diversity: ardent obligation or competitive advantage?” for its clients in January 2011.
