Linklaters lawyer named as Diversity Champion

16 November 2011

Linklaters lawyer, Paulette Mastin, a counsel in Linklaters’ capital markets practice, has been named as Diversity Champion 2011 at the Diversity Legal Awards, held this week by the Black Solicitors Network. .

The award recognised Paulette’s significant contribution to diversity across the legal profession, championing the cause of black lawyers in the City of London, both externally (as chair of the City branch of the Black Solicitors Network [BSN City Group]) and internally (as co-chair of Linklaters’ Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Network). Together with colleagues on the BSN City Group steering committee, she has raised the profile of black lawyers in the City, enlisted the support of law firms and financial institutions and created a forum in which black City lawyers are empowered.

Reeta Chakrabarti, BBC News Education Correspondent, presented the award at a ceremony held at Linklaters’ Silk Street office on Monday 14th November 2011. The event was attended by 160 people from across the legal sector including representatives from chambers, in house client teams and the judiciary.

Linklaters was also named the top Magic Circle law firm, and the second firm overall, in the Diversity League Table, second only to Shoosmiths.
