Linklaters announces that as from January 2012, Matthew Middleditch, one of the firm's Global Heads of M&A, will be spending significant time in Asia, supporting the firm’s corporate team across the region and working with clients there. He will also maintain his global responsibilities for the M&A practice and for his existing clients.
In addition, the firm is transferring two senior corporate partners - Peter Goes, from Amsterdam and Miles Curley from Madrid - to the region.
Peter Goes, a corporate partner with extensive Pan-European M&A experience, particularly in the energy and financial markets sectors, will be transferring from Amsterdam to the firm’s fast-growing Beijing office in early 2012. Earlier this year, Peter advised Pang Da Automobile, a leading Chinese private company, on its equity investment in Saab / Swedish Automobile.
Miles Curley, another corporate lawyer with significant international experience, based in the firm’s Madrid office since 1997, will be transferring to Singapore in early summer 2012. There he will work alongside the market-leading teams of corporate and finance lawyers from Linklaters and Allen & Gledhill to strengthen further both firms’ relationships with clients active across South East Asia.
Stuart Salt, Linklaters regional managing partner for Asia, said:
"These developments represent a major commitment by the firm to the Asia region. They build on our recent appointment of M&A and corporate finance partner, Tien-Yo Chao, who is recognised as a leading specialist in the Greater China market."
He added:
"We have been seeing significant growth in the demand for cross border M&A and corporate finance advice for some time, particularly among our PRC clients. As such, Asia - and Greater China in particular - is central to the firm’s global strategy. All the partners bring significant international experience at a senior level that will complement our market-leading team of lawyers already in place and reinforce our reputation as the international firm of choice across the region."
