The Madrid office supports Achalay which is an organisation that helps economically and socially disadvantaged children, teenagers and adults integrate into society. Linklaters’ volunteers help the children with their homework, provide English and IT lessons, and just play with the children including activities such as a visit to the zoo. They have attended art exhibitions with the teenagers and hold sessions at the centre in which they provide advice on employment, tax issues etc. We have also provided pro bono real estate and tax advice directly to Achalay. Achalay recently awarded Linklaters Madrid with the Top Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (Primer Premio a la Accion Empresarial). Following the Spanish tradition of Reyes Magos (the 'Three Wise Men'), lawyers from different practice areas dressed up as Reyes Magos to deliver presents to children and share their hopes and aspirations for the New Year.
