Community Investment, Germany, Arche Frankfurt (translation "Ark Frankfurt")

The Frankfurt office is supporting the set up of a new location of Arche in Frankfurt. Arche (German word for "arc") was founded in Berlin in 1995. Arche is well known in Germany and is fighting against poverty of children by providing food, education and training. It has received various prizes for its excellent work. In Frankfurt a new location is planned and supported by a Freundeskreis ("circle of friends") including Linklaters. The Freundeskreis consists of approx 10 members, mainly German banks including our clients Commerzbank, DekaBank, BHF-Bank and Deutsche Börse and primary sponsor is Dr Martin Kohlhausen, the former CEO of Commerzbank and now head of the trustees of Commerzbank foundation (Commerzbank-Stiftung). Our participation in the project requires financial participation in the funding for the initial 3 year period and allows us to participate in hands on work and to provide legal advice in the set up phase.
