The English Theatre was established in 1979, and is the largest theatre with an exclusively English programme on the Continent. It offers approximately 280 performances a year to 60,000 visitors. The English Theatre has an established sponsorship/partner programme in which leading institutions participate. We are sponsoring the theatre for an initial two years, and part of our funding will be used to extend its educational programme. “Words in Action“ is an educational programme sponsored by us to support youngsters in their quest to improve their English. At the same time, they get to know the workings of the theatre and try out their acting skills. In four sessions the students of a local Comprehensive school, their teacher and a special tutor will find themselves in “theatrical“ situations in which they can engage with such topics as indirect speech, tenses and polite questions.
