Markets and clients, Representing the UK legal profession on global competitiveness
In the UK we represented the views of the legal sector in the Professional Services Global Competitiveness Group, a group set up to consider the challenges facing professional services in the UK. The Group’s findings were reported to the Chancellor's High-Level Group on City Competitiveness who will prioritise the challenges for the UK-based Professional Services industry and related public policy challenges.
In addition, David Cheyne presented, alongside Sir Michael Snyder, on the competitiveness of the City as a global centre for professional services to an audience of senior partners and representatives from other professional services firms at the Law Society. This sparked a lively debate on a variety of issues including the impact of the tax regime on businesses operating in the UK, the role of professional services firms in setting global standards, nurturing and attracting skills and our relationship with and ability to influence government and regulators
