Clients and markets: collective strength

The events of last year propelled some of our markets and clients into uncharted territory. In the fact of extraordinary issues, we concentrated on working alongside our clients to help them develop solutions. We drew on our collective strength, sharing know-how, best practice and ideas across multi-disciplinary, global teams.

Sharing expertise in fast moving markets

In these challenging times, our clients looked to us more than ever to provide fresh thinking.

For example, we worked with our insurance clients to identify pertinent risks, hosted client seminars on the ‘lessons learned’ from our work on the Lehman’s insolvency and conducted workshops on the impact of the credit crunch on our clients and markets.

We are improving the way we share knowhow across practices and offices internally. For example, we hold regular bank sector ‘hot topic’ calls where developments in different countries are shared among our lawyers to ensure that we are able to deliver consistently high quality advice as markets evolve.

Helping to shape the legal and regulatory environment

The year saw a continued increase in government intervention in business. We helped shape the legal and regulatory environment in many jurisdictions by providing input to consultations and by advising legislators and regulators directly.

  • 95 client restructuring and insolvency workshops globally examining options open to organisations in the current climate.
