Duncan Barber is a corporate partner who is co-head of the firm’s global insurance sector team. His extensive M&A experience includes acting for Old Mutual in connection with its £3.3 billion takeover of Skandia, RBS on the acquisition of Churchill, Swiss Re on the acquisition and subsequent rationalisation of GE Life UK (including the sale of the new business function to Liverpool Victoria), Lloyds TSB on the disposal of Abbey Life and AXA on the reorganisation of its businesses by way of Part VII transfer. He also acted for Groupama on a reduction of capital. Duncan has also advised on financings including Norwich Union’s new business strain securitisation and the securitisations of Barclay Life’s and Friends Provident’s future profits as well as tier one and tier two debt issues.
