Experience
As a leading projects and project finance lawyer, Fiona has advised on a number of energy and infrastructure deals around the world.
In 2010 Fiona was one of the co-leaders advising Borealis Infrastructure and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) on the £2.1 billion purchase of one of the most famous pieces of modern infrastructure in the world, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. This deal was awarded Infrastructure Acquisition of the Year 2010 by Infrastructure Journal and Europe Infra Deal of the Year 2010 by Project Finance International.
Other key deals in 2010 include advising:
- BP plc on its $1.8 billion sale of businesses in Venezuela and Vietnam to TNK-BP and on the pre-export financing of oil from Angola and Azerbaijan (awarded Emerging EMEA Loan (Deal) of the Year 2010 by IFR (International Financing Review) and a Trade Finance Magazine Deal of the Year 2010);
- Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) on their hostile £1.9 billion takeover of Dana Petroleum plc and on their investments in upstream assets in Kurdistan;
- Maersk on various upstream oil and gas acquisitions;
- Dow Chemical and Solvay on HP and PO plant financings in Thailand; and
- CH Continental Holdings on the $1.5 billion railway project in Ghana.
Fiona is head of the firm’s Client Sector programme and is also recognised as a leading lawyer in Chambers UK for Rail as well as Oil & Gas and Power.
