Experience 

Jean-Philippe heads Linklaters’ U.S. Climate Change and Environmental Law Practice. He has extensive experience advising clients on environmental and regulatory risks and liabilities arising in M&A, banking, project finance, capital markets and real estate transactions. In addition, JP has more than 12 years of experience advising clients on all aspects of climate change compliance issues and carbon transactions, having worked on his first carbon deal in 1998 when he was at the World Bank.

JP has a unique mix of business and legal experience in carbon markets. Immediately prior to joining Linklaters, he was Senior Advisor to the Climate Action Reserve, where he worked on a number of matters, including the Reserve’s forestry protocol and expansion to Canada. He was also Vice President in Goldman Sachs’ Global Commodities business, where he helped establish Goldman’s U.S. carbon desk. At Goldman, he originated, ran and closed a number of landmark transactions involving complex financial structures and partnerships. These included Goldman Sachs’ strategic alliance with Blue Source and a Gold Standard VER offtake with E+Carbon.

JP has a thorough knowledge of carbon regulations in North America.  He is invited to speak frequently at industry conferences and management meetings on issues such as carbon market trends, market oversight issues, SEC disclosure requirements, risk management strategies and regulatory developments.
