Experience
Matt is a corporate partner with a practice focused around the Real Estate and Private Equity sectors. He heads our real estate M&A team embedded within our real estate practice. He is experienced in advising the full range of stakeholders across the sectors in relation to public and private corporate/structured finance, M&A, joint ventures and securities offerings.
Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed include advising:
- Delancey and AREA Property Partners on their consortium bid to acquire Minerva Plc by way of public takeover
- TPG and Apollo Real Estate on a consortium bid to acquire the Europolis business from Volksbank AG
- Apollo on the restructuring of a regulated fund and on the asset management arrangements for the underlying £800m real estate portfolio
- HgCapital on the take private of Computer Software Group
- British Land on its divestment of a pan-European retail portfolio and fund interest
- A GCC sovereign wealth fund on its strategic debt acquisition in relation to a profile hotel portfolio
- PwC (as administrator) on a value realisation strategy for the equity/ securitised income stream held by Lehmans on its global real estate portfolio
- a consortium involving a large GCC sovereign wealth fund and an international financial sponsor on a consensual debt for equity restructuring of a c.£400m real estate portfolio
- Europa Capital, RREEF and AREA Property Partners on a three-way joint venture for the acquisition from and leaseback to BBVA of a €1.15bn property portfolio
