Experience
Simon has been with Linklaters for nearly 35 years and during this time he spent four years as Head of the Real Estate Department, and seven years on the Firm’s main board. He is currently Head of European Real Estate based in the London office. Simon has extensive experience advising on the UK taxation of real estate transactions and investment structuring for UK and non-UK institutions, property companies, developers and occupiers. He was centrally involved in the UK property market’s creation of a UK REIT, and was one of the small industry team which negotiated the detailed REIT rules with HM Treasury and HMRC. Previously a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute and member of the British Property Federation Policy Committee. Currently a member of the ULI’s global Governance Committee, the Cambridge Land Economy Advisory Board and a trustee of the Investment Property Forum Education Trust.
