Overview
Sam is a managing associate in the firm’s restructuring and insolvency team in London. Sam has experience advising stakeholders on a broad range of restructuring and insolvency matters, acting for creditors (including banks and credit funds), corporate debtors and insolvency practitioners on a wide range of complex multi-jurisdictional restructurings, contingency planning and insolvencies.
Work highlights
- Tele Columbus: advising the majority shareholder and equity finance provider in relation to the German fibre network operator's 2024 amendment of its €1.1bn of senior debt (via an English Scheme of Arrangement) and €300m new equity raise.
- Metro Bank: advising Metro Bank in relation to its 2023 £925 recapitalisation, involving a £325m debt and equity capital raise and £600m debt refinancing.
- The Lycra Company: advising certain shareholders and creditors of the Lycra Company in relation to the refinancing of its senior secured notes due 2023.
- Nordic Aviation Capital: advising an ad hoc committee of lenders on the $6bn restructuring of the aircraft leasing company implemented via a Chapter 11 process involving a debt for equity swap, new debt and rights offering.
- Intu Properties and certain of its subsidiaries: advising Interpath Advisory as the joint administrator of intu Properties PLC and certain companies within the intu group on the insolvency of this shopping centre and property management group.
- Arcadia: advising Interpath Advisory as administrator and receiver on the sale of 214 Oxford Street, formerly owned by Arcadia and the home of their flagship Topshop and Topman store, to Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group.
- Addison Lee: advising the secured lenders to this taxi business in relation to its debt for equity restructuring.
- The Steinhoff group: advising the retail group on its €10bn (bond and bank debt) financial restructuring.
- Lehman Brothers Europe: advising the joint administrators on the insolvency of this financial services firm.

Education and qualifications
Sam studied at Durham University and holds a master's in law and business from the University of Law.
