Environment, Sustainable futures
The implementation of the Sustainable Procurement Policy was one of many initiatives and projects which contributed to One Silk Street being awarded an “Excellent” rating under the BREEAM In-Use assessment – the first building in the City of London to achieve this. BREEAM In-Use measures the environmental performance of an occupied building, assessing a range of factors including organisational management, energy, health and wellbeing, water, waste, land use, ecology and innovation.
The resource and preparation for the audit was made possible as a result of the 2010 Environmental Science Student Summer Placement Programme, which we have now run for the last five years. Two undergraduate students worked intensively with our Operations team to bring together all of the necessary information.
