Ian is the co-head of the private equity sector within Linklaters and focuses solely on private equity, advising private equity houses and financial sponsor clients on all forms of leveraged M&A and portfolio assistance including restructuring advice.
Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have included advising:
- Bridgepoint on the acquisition of Quilter, one of the UK’s largest wealth management providers, from Morgan Stanley
- RBS on the £925m sale of The Priory Group to Advent International
- a consortium consisting of BAML, Montagu Private Equity and others on the sale by Euromedic International B.V. of its international dialysis division
- The Carlyle Group on the acquisition of a majority stake in ADP from Palamon and subsequent acquisition of IDH from the private equity arm of Bank of America Merrill Lynch ("BAML")
- Triton on the €850 million ($1.1 billion) acquisition of Ambea from 3i
- Alliance Medical Group, one of the leading providers of diagnostic imaging services in Europe, on the recently-completed restructuring of its debt and equity
- China Investment Corporation (CIC) on its minority investment into Apax Partners LLP and its commitment to Apax' most recent buyout fund through an innovative sidecar structure
- Almatis, a portfolio company of Dubai International Capital, on its debt financing arrangements and potential restructuring options
- Novator and the Company on the restructuring of Actavis
- Candover and its portfolio company, DX Services, on the restructuring of DX Services
