Linklaters to offer enhanced Shared Parental Leave pay
As part of its commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive culture, Linklaters has announced it will be offering enhanced Shared Parental Leave (SPL) to its people – going further than the statutory rights on SPL that have come into force in the UK this week.
The enhanced rights match Linklaters’ current maternity rights offering, which provides full pay for up to six months’ leave, subject to certain conditions. This is inclusive of any maternity / paternity leave taken, so that a parent can take up to six months total leave on full pay.
From 5 April 2015, new UK legislation will allow mothers, fathers, partners, and adopters to opt for SPL, to be taken up to a year after a child is born or adopted. Under the legislation, eligible parents will have the option to share a period of their maternity or adoption leave with their partner, including sharing statutory pay.
Simon Davies, Linklaters firmwide managing partner, said:
“As a firm we are committed to helping our people find a genuine balance between their career and home life, as part of our wider goal of attracting, retaining and developing the best talent. As such, providing support for parents working at Linklaters in this way was an easy decision to take.”
