"Złote Paragrafy" (Golden Clauses) - award for Marcin Dziurda for the "best legal advisor"
The INFOR Publishing House Group, the publisher of the Polish national daily legal gazette Dziennik Gazeta Prawna has announced its awards for the twenty-first time. The awards are designed to recognise the best legislative solutions and the achievements of Poland’s most effective lawyers. The deciding committee includes, among others, the Minister of Justice, the First President of the Supreme Court, the President of the Bar Council, the President of the National Council of Legal Advisers.
The Zloty Paragraf (the Golden Clause) in the best legal advisor category went to Marcin Dziurda, Of Counsel, at Linklaters Warsaw. He received the award for his lifetime achievement and pro bono activities. His pro bono work, through which Mr Dziurda assisted a pensioner to escape from a debt trap, attracted recognition. As a result of his work, he was able to convince the court that the pensioner concerned was helpless to the extent that it was justified to restore to him, after thirteen years, the period of time within which he can exercise his right to appeal against an payment order. This judgment is of particular importance in an age where loan companies are ubiquitous and to which a significant portion of Polish society owes money.
