Overview

Sven is specialised in restructuring banks and financial institutions, advising on the restructuring of insolvent companies and their shareholders, advising on the purchase out of insolvency and advising banks and creditors on the insolvency of their clients.

He was a member of the European Commission's expert group on the drafting of a bank restructuring and resolution directive (ILEG) and is a member of the board of trustees of the Centre for Insolvency and Restructuring at the University of Mannheim and INSOL Europe, the largest European association of restructuring advisors and insolvency administrators.

He is a recommended lawyer in the area of insolvency and restructuring (JUVE German Commercial Law Firms Directory 2020/2021) and is rated as “Highly regarded” in IFLR1000 (IFLR1000 2022/23, Restructuring and insolvency, Financial restructuring).

  • The insolvency administrators of Gebrüder Kunze GmbH and IBEX Automotive GmbH (two affiliated automotive suppliers) on the sale of the entities by way of an asset-deal
  • E.ON in relation to the restructuring and insolvency issues at its Brazilian investee ENEVA

  • Schneider Geiwitz & Partner a s insolvency administrator of Schlecker group (Germany) on the sale of Schlecker SNC, the French drugstore activities (about 140 shops located in South of France) of German Schlecker Group to Système U, one of the French leading retail companies

Professional experience

Sven worked as an associate in a law firm from 1999. He joined Linklaters in 2003 and was made a partner in 2008.

Education and qualifications

Sven studied law at the Universities of Konstanz and Cologne. Later he received his doctorate from the university of Konstanz.

He speaks English and German.
