Education and qualifications
Amy’s practice is focused on the representation of debtors, creditors, and other significant parties in connection with some of the country's largest restructurings and reorganizations. She has cultivated industry-specific experience in the energy, health care, retail, automotive, financial institution, and airline sectors.
Amy’s recent representative matters include acting as:
- restructuring counsel in the chapter 11 cases of Peabody Energy Corporation, the world's largest private sector coal company, and 153 of its direct and indirect subsidiaries. In less than a year, Peabody negotiated and developed a plan of reorganization that reduced Peabody's debt burden by more than $6.6 billion.
- restructuring counsel in the chapter 11 filing and sale of MSD Performance, a producer of automotive ignition components, and its domestic subsidiaries
- counsel for major private research universities in the acquisition of potential partner institutions
- counsel for significant creditors in one of the country's largest municipal bankruptcies (Jefferson County, Alabama), Forum Health, Northwest Airlines Corporation, and Delta Air Lines.
Amy has been recognized by Chambers USA 2017 as a “leader in field,” and was a recipient of the M&A Advisor’s 2017 “energy deal of the year (over $100mm)”. She has also received the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “40 under 40” award and the M&A Advisor’s “40 under 40” award.
Amy is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the New York State Bar Association and the District of Columbia bar. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the global board of the Turnaround Management Association and is the former global co-chair of TMA's Network of Women.
Amy serves on the Board of Councilors of The Carter Center.
