Jellen is a managing associate in our Corporate & Finance Practice, qualified in Belgium and based in Brussels.

He advises top-tier Belgian and foreign financial institutions and corporates on a wide range of regulatory questions (banking regulation, MiFID, investment funds, derivatives market regulation, financial infrastructure, regulatory capital, payment services, market abuse, insurance law, etc.). He also has notable experience in structured finance matters, derivatives transactions, contentious regulatory work and restructuring and insolvency. He is regularly involved in banks’ and other financial institutions’ cross-border mergers and reorganisations.

Jellen is also one of the lead lawyers of the Belgian Fintech team and is coordinating the innovation and efficiency initiatives of the Brussels and Antwerp offices. 

Work hilights

Jellen has advised on a wide range of major regulatory and finance transactions. These include advising:

  • Belfius Bank on the establishment of the first ever covered bonds programmes in Belgium;
  • P&V Verzekeringen as issuer in connection with the issue of EUR 390m Dated Subordinated Tier 2 Solvency II-compliant Notes;
  • NN Investment Partners on the establishment of its 2017 ABS conduit programme for Belgian mortgage loans originated by ING Belgium NV/SA
  • A significant number of Belgian and foreign financial institutions on their Brexit contingency planning;
  • Johnson & Johnson on the negotiation of its central and local hedging agreements with a significant number of international banks
