Overview

Qutaibah advises private equity investors, insurance companies, institutional funds, banks and developers on real estate transactions. His expertise covers the entire life cycle of all real estate classes. He has specialised experience in acquisition, financing, development, various management agreements, letting and disposal of real estate. His counselling also comprises real estate-related transactions such as NPL’s.

In 2018, Qutaibah was seconded for four months to Cerberus in Amsterdam gaining deeper experience in the private equity sector.

Transactions of significance that can be disclosed are:

  • advising a group of private equity investors on the structuring and acquisition of a distressed real estate portfolio, consisting of 460 residential and 82 commercial properties from the insolvent community company;
  • advising Cerberus in respect of various acquisitions and disposals, espe-cially commercial assets (shopping centres and mixed-use properties) leased by large German retailers, disposal of portfolio sales and single assets as well as shares of property companies, acquisition of the entire European business of Staples (with the exception of the UK retail business) by a subsidiary, NPL transactions;
  • advising CBRE Global Investors on the acquisition of a shopping center and various logistics portfolios;
  • advising AG Real Estate SA (real estate division AG Insurance Group) on the acquisition and letting of nursing home portfolios in Germany;
  • advising a German pension fund on a sale and lease back transaction consisting two logistics development projects;
  • advising several U.S. banks on the leases of their German office head-quarter.

Professional experience

Qutaibah is Linklaters “born and bred”. He joined Linklaters as a legal research assistant in 2011. After a short break for his legal clerkship at the High Regional Court of Frankfurt (Main) he instantly re-joined Linklaters in 2014 as an Associate and became a Managing Associate in 2018.

Qutaibah regularly publishes articles in the ImmobilienZeitung, a periodic specialist journal for the German real estate sector. He is also one of the authors of the textbook Immobilientransaktionen.


Education and qualifications

Qutaibah studied law at the J. W. Goethe-University in Frankfurt with a focus on corporate and finance law.

He speaks German, English, Arabic, French and Spanish.
