Overview

Robin has over 15 years’ experience handling complex litigation matters, and focuses on securities, commercial disputes, consumer protection and fraud. She has significant experience in commercial, government-facing, and appellate litigation, as well as strategic counseling in high-stakes cases, anti-discrimination matters, and investigations. As a seasoned trial attorney, she has litigated over 300 cases before numerous state and federal district and appellate courts.

Robin has represented clients from a breadth of industries including technology, media, manufacturing, health care and financial services, and has advised clients on topics ranging from privacy and data protection to anti-money laundering bribery and economic sanctions. She maintains an active enforcement practice and defends banks, card issuers, mortgage servicers, auto finance companies, student loan servicers, and other financial services providers before the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Department of Justice, and other federal and state enforcement bodies. Robin frequently provides commentary and analysis on legal issues to numerous news programs including CNBC, FOX, the National Law Journal, The Recorder, and Law360, as well as various trade publications.

Before joining Linklaters, Robin served as the co-chair of a national law firm’s financial services industry initiative as well as a litigation supervision, enforcement and litigation practice group head of another national firm. She brings crucial in-house insight from her time as an executive and in house counsel at two national bank holding companies with robust offerings in financial services, digital transformation, consumer products, and financial technology.

  • Multiple clients: currently litigating matters involving the state and federal False Claims Act, alleged breaches of contract, racial discrimination and retaliation, federal trademark, trade secrets, and consumer fraud and is also leading a number of audits related to books and records retention on behalf of various corporations and financial institutions
  • Multiple financial clients: advised on high profile investigations and lawsuits relating to SEC personal device sweeps
  • Multiple clients: represented in investigations of allegations involving FCPA and corruption violations which included money laundering, bribery, perjury, mail/wire/honest services fraud, extortion, tax evasion, destruction of public records and theft of government property and funds
  • Multiple clients: assisted on extensive grand jury presentations involving white-collar fraud, including the collection and analysis of thousands of documents
  • Multiple clients: advised on ongoing regulatory and compliance obligations and enforcement by multiple state and federal regulators under U.S. federal and state laws
  • Multiple banks, nonbank financial institutions, fintechs, ecommerce companies, securities firms and individual clients: advised on novel issues related to new communication technologies, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, payments, artificial intelligence, privacy/cybersecurity and big data
  • Participant in Night Court Trial Program, Bronx Defenders — served as trial counsel in Bronx Criminal and Supreme Courts.

Professional experience

Robin is a board member of the Washington Bar Association, and is a member the Women’s Bar Association, 100 Women in Finance, PayTech Women, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, and the National Bar Association, among others.

She has previously served the American Bar Association as chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force for both the Banking Law Committee and its Consumer Financial Services Committee. She sits on the Boards of Directors of both the National Endowment for Financial Education and the Duke Ellington School of Arts.

Robin has been recognized by Legal 500 US and received the National Bar Association (GWAC, Women Lawyer’s Division) Trailblazer Award in 2022, and was named an Inspiring Fintech Leader by NYC Fintech Women in 2021. She was noted in 2019 by the Diversity Journal as one of their “Women Worth Watching.” In 2018 she was named to the Network Journal “25 Influential Black Women in Business,” a Rising Star by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and a Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.

Education and qualifications

Robin received her B.A. at Dartmouth College and her juris doctorate at The University of Chicago Law School.

In law school she was President of the Black Law Students Association. She was also a member of The University of Chicago Law Review, The University of Chicago International Law Journal and The University of Chicago Legal Forum.

In addition to having authored several dozen legal scholarships, Robin has authored chapters on AI for both the Cambridge Handbook on Law and Algorithms and the American Bar Association Law of AI and Smart Machines.
