Welcome to the Pensions Ombudsman Focus for the period to June 2017. In this edition, we cover three recent complaints to the Pensions Ombudsman.
First, we consider two overpayment cases, with different outcomes. The determinations turn on the Pensions Ombudsman’s view of expenses that would or would not have been incurred by the member if the overpayments had not been made. The final case highlights the need to consider all the medical evidence in cases of ill health and ensure that any internal dispute resolution procedure is conducted swiftly and competently.
