Linklaters advises IDEX on the proposed acquisition of the biomass power plant Sylviana located in the Var (south of France)
Linklaters advised Idex group on the conclusion of an exclusive agreement with Altawest group and Banque des Territoires for the acquisition of Sylviana, a biomass power generation plant located in Brignoles (Var).
Project winner of the CRE4 biomass call for tenders of the Energy Regulatory Commission in 2011, Sylviana is a renewable electricity production plant with a capacity of 21.5 MW, fully operational since 2016. This transaction is part of Idex group’s strategy to be a major player in the energy transition.
Sylviana uses forest biomass from a 100 km radius around Brignoles. Wood combustion produces heat, which in turn is transformed into electricity. The production of this plant represents the electricity consumption of 62,000 households. Sylviana is a key asset in the south of France. It contributes to the local production of renewable energy and secures the power supply of the area.
Following this project, Idex, operating in partnership with the SITTOMAT energy recovery unit in Toulon, will become the leading producer of green energy in the Var.
