Linklaters Luxembourg receives “ESR - Entreprise Socialement Responsable” award for its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
We are proud to announce that as a result of the firm’s ongoing commitment, we have once again been awarded with the “ESR – Entreprise Socialement Responsable” certificate, recognising Linklaters LLP Luxembourg as a “Socially Responsible Firm”.
This label, which was granted to us by Luxembourg’s National Institute for Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility, rewards the firm’s proactive attitude in relation to numerous social, environmental and community investment initiatives.
Linklaters was the first law firm in Luxembourg to receive the “ESR” award in 2011 and still is the only global law firm in the country to hold such a certificate.
The following paragraphs provide some insights into a number of elements of Linklaters Luxembourg’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Steps towards a sustainable future
In line with Linklaters’ global vision for CSR and with the ISO 14001 International Environment Standard certification, as a firm we continuously strive to optimise our environmental impact by decreasing our energy consumption, our CO2 emissions and our waste production.
In this context, Linklaters Luxembourg has developed initiatives regarding the gradual integration of a more efficient and innovative green infrastructure – as of January 2015, the entire office building will be running fully and exclusively with green and renewable energy.
Foundations for a healthy work environment
An equally important aspect of CSR at Linklaters is creating a welcoming work environment for all employees.
Linklaters Luxembourg’s team encompasses 120 people with 15 different nationalities, uniting cultures from all over the world. For us, embracing this diversity means recognising the unique contributions that each individual independent of gender and race can make.
To set a clear signal that the firm is committed to fighting all forms of discrimination, setting up a policy in favour of equal opportunities, acknowledging and valuing individual skills, and to raise awareness to the challenges of Diversity as well as to Diversity as a source of enrichment, innovation and social cohesion, Linklaters Luxembourg has recently signed the Diversity Charter Luxembourg.
Investment in the community
“Being a good neighbour” is what the firm’s CSR policy asks of each of its offices. Our approach in Luxembourg is to get invested in primarily local, and to some extent international organisations and support them through donations and concrete actions such as pro bono legal advice, humanitarian support and fund-raising or awareness-building campaigns. “Le Rêve du Petit Prince”, “Unity Foundation” and “Afrique Décide” are examples of associations we are currently working with.
It is important to us that everyone has the opportunity to actively participate in the office’s “Community Investment” initiatives and we are proud that several employees have, for example, volunteered to accompany Le Rêve du Petit Prince’s Dolphin Therapy programme in Turkey, that every year we have a dedicated team at the Luxembourg marathon running for charity, and that one of our partners even climbed Kilimanjaro for a good cause.
