Linklaters boosts private equity team with new partner hire

Linklaters announces that highly regarded private equity partner Ben Rodham is to re-join the firm’s private equity practice, based in London, starting early in the New Year.
Ben, whose experience includes advising private equity firms and other financial sponsors on all forms of leveraged M&A, disposals, restructurings and portfolio company issues, joins Linklaters from Shearman & Sterling, where he was a partner in its private equity group.

Ben’s hire comes on the back of a successful 2015 for the firm's private equity team, which has advised on a number of high profile transactions during the year including:

  • The Carlyle Group on its exit from the RAC to CVC, the £500m take-private of The Innovation Group and the acquisition of Barbon Insurance Group from TPG
  • TDR Capital and a consortium of investors on the EUR 3.5bn acquisition of Leaseplan
  • Apollo on the EUR 2.95bn acquisition of Verallia from Saint-Gobain
  • Brait on the £1.9bn acquisition of New Look from Apax and Permira and on the £1.3bn acquisition of Virgin Active from CVC

Alex Woodward, Linklaters private equity partner, said:

"We are really pleased to welcome Ben back to the firm. He has worked on a number of high profile and complex transactions in recent years and his arrival will help the continued growth of our private equity practice and enable us to meet the strong demand for our services from key financial sponsor clients.”
