Linklaters sponsors Pink Dot Hong Kong

For the second year running, Linklaters is proud to be a platinum sponsor of Pink Dot Hong Kong which will take place on 20 September at Tamar Park.

The event, which was held for the first time in June 2014, supports Hong Kong’s LGBTI community, promoting equality and an end to all forms of discrimination.

Linklaters was a sponsor of the inaugural Pink Dot Hong Kong which attracted an estimated 12,000 people last year.  Asia Managing Partner Marc Harvey commented, “last year’s event was a fantastic success and a great day out, we were really proud to be a part of it.  It’s terrific to see other firms in the Hong Kong legal community getting involved this year.”

This week, 14-18 September, Linklaters’ Asia offices will join the rest of the firm’s global network in holding ‘Diversity Week’, a chance for us to highlight and celebrate diversity in all of its forms, including for example, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and gender.  It is also designed to help everyone better understand the benefits of inclusion and open mindedness. In Hong Kong, the week will culminate with Pink Dot and the firm is encouraging staff, clients, and their friends and family, to come along and join in.

Improving diversity is one of  Linklaters’ global priorities and an area in which we are constantly looking to improve.  In Asia, a dedicated project manager has recently spent three months to research and make recommendations on how to better develop and action the firm’s diversity and inclusion strategy in the region.  In-depth, one-to-one conversations have taken place with more than 80 people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, representing all areas of the business.

There is no silver bullet solution to achieving significant and sustainable improvements in diversity, but our comprehensive set of initiatives designed to tackle the issue, some of which have been in place for several years now, are making a real difference in helping us attract, retain and develop some of the finest legal and non-legal talent in the profession,” said Marc Harvey.  “At an even more fundamental level it’s simply about treating everyone with respect,” he concluded.
