Linklaters wins Sukuk Capital Markets Law Firm of the Year Award

Linklaters has won the Sukuk Capital Markets Law Firm of the Year category of the Islamic Finance News (IFN) Law Awards for 2017. “Linklaters showed a remarkable global reach”, commented IFN.

Dubai partner and Head of the Middle East Capital Markets Practice, Jonathan Fried, commented: “This award is due recognition for the many people that have helped to create our market-leading sukuk practice, and the strong relationships that we have built with our clients in the development of the various structures underpinning the products in this expanding market.”

Global Head of Islamic Finance, Neil D Miller, commented: “This award is independent recognition by the wider Islamic financial services industry of the central role that our capital markets group plays in developing the international sukuk market – whatever the sector or asset involved.”

The judging panel highlighted 14 innovative deals that Linklaters advised on during the past year, including sovereign sukuk deals by the Sultanate of Oman and Hong Kong and deals from a variety of sectors including energy and utilities, financial institutions, real estate, leisure and sovereign wealth funds.

The award follows success for Linklaters at the IFN “Deal of the Year” awards ceremony earlier this year. Linklaters were awarded six “Deal of the Year” awards, for “Cross Border Deal of the Year”, “Hybrid Deal of the Year”, “Qatar Deal of the Year”, “Real Estate Deal of the Year”, “UAE Deal of the Year” and, for the second time in two years, the main overall “Deal of the Year”.
