Overview

Alex is head of financial regulation in the Linklaters Stockholm office, having relocated from London in April 2018. He has a broad financial regulatory practice acting for buyside firms and sell side firms, as well as market infrastructure providers, payment services firms, custodians, insurers and other financial services institutions. Alex advises on licencing and other perimeter issues, firms’ conduct including investor protection requirements, consumer credit, market abuse and anti-money laundering (MAR & MLD), market activities including specific product requirements (e.g. EMIR / MiFID / AIFMD / UCITS / SSR / SFTR), Fintech, the benchmarks regime (BMR), as well as acquisitions of regulated entities.

He spent 6 years working for the London office in their dedicated financial regulatory group. He has spent time on secondment to an investment banking, securities and investment management company in London and Nasdaq in Sweden.

Professional experience

Alex joined Linklaters London in 2011 as a trainee. He qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and joined the Financial Regulation group. In 2018, Alex relocated to Sweden to head up the Financial Regulation practice in our Stockholm office. 

Education and qualifications

Alex studied German at the University of Edinburgh and law at BPP Law School, London.
