Counsel in the Banking Department at Linklaters. Alex acts and advises banks, other financial institutions and corporates across a broad range of debt financing transactions including, but not limited to, syndicated and bilateral corporate financings, acquisition and leveraged financings and other event-driven financings, loans to funds, restructurings and other secured financings.

Examples of significant matters with substantial involvement include the following:

  • advising a group of lenders on the 1.240bn and US$500m post IPO financing for Philips Lighting N.V.
  • advising an ad hoc committee of lenders in relation to the sale of Guardian Digital Communications Limited (parent company of Airwave Solutions Limited) to Motorola Solutions, Inc. for £817.5m which was implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement
  • advising a group of lenders on the new money financing which was in place as part of the restructuring of the Vivarte Group’s £2.8bn syndicated debt facilities
  • advising Gold Fields in relation to its US$1.5bn financing package as part of its demerger with Sibanye Gold Limited
