Overview
Garance joined the TMT/IP practice at Linklaters in 2020. She provides legal advice from a Belgian and European perspective in relation to a wide variety of technology, media & telecom matters as well as in the field of intellectual property rights.
Garance also has significant experience advising clients in relation to general commercial law, market practices, consumer law and food law. She had the opportunity to do a six-month secondment in the compliance department of an international company active in the retail sector.
She advises both on transactions and litigation proceedings in relation to IT, data protection and IP.
Work highlights
Garance has worked on many market-significant digitalisation, cloud, outsourcing and other IT related transactions as well as data protection projects. These include advising:
- a growing number of international clients in relation to global data breaches and international data transfers
- a leading multinational company that leases transport equipment with the drafting and negotiation of a telematics agreement enabling it to equip its assets with a fleet management system using telematics technology
- an international retail holding on a cross-border investigation relating to accounting fraud by some of its managers, including all support to our dispute resolution team to enable access to and communication of personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR
- an investment managing company in relation to the launching of a massive IT project for the renewal of its infrastructure supplier (back office and front office)
Education and qualifications
Garance holds an LL.M. from King’s College London. She completed her Master’s degree in Law at the University of Louvain, and her Bachelor’s degree in Law at the University of Namur. She studied one semester at the LUMSA University in Rome, within the framework of the Erasmus programme.
She speaks French, English, Dutch and Italian.
